When we scanned the van we got a camshaft position sensor code. We put in a new battery and changed the fuel filter as well. Before my van died, the check oil light was on. I put oil in there, I thought it was enough, could lack of oil be the problem?

Just by having a no start condition  you can set this code, Having low oil , not really On this year model the camshaft position sensor is in the distributor, Usually the whole distributor is replaced,, You need to do the basic such as check for ignition spark, another also is make sure the connection is really seated, The camshaft position sensor even with this code the engine would start, it would run and drive, it wont drive right but it will drive.
