On my 1993 Saturn SL2, my check engine light comes on after about 5 seconds. When I read the codes, it only shows a repeating 12 code. Everything seems to run normally. What could be the problem?

Code 12 is a flash code only, code 12 means the ECM is able to perform a diagnostic,
