engine light on

infiniti i35 2003 v6 - was getting p0051 code with engine light on. replaced B2S1 o2 sensor but now getting p0051 and p1168 disconnected the battery + terminal for more than an hour and after connecting it back still getting the codes.

Is it possible the new o2 sensor is defective or something else is wrong

Both these codes are for the same issue. The sensor is the likely issue, however there is a service bulletin for some models. Here is some more info
