Wouldn't I get a crank or cam out of position code after trying to start have all covers off everything looks like it should I guess I'll have to get a compression tester the reason I'm thinking no compression engine turns don't hear no strain on starter at all

No you will not you need a drive cycle , with out the drive cycle you are not going to get any code, The only code that you can get are open circuit short circuit and ground. You can use data stream such as RPM, The RPM tell you that there is a crank signal.but it has to be above 250 RPM
