how long can I wait before I need to replace sensor?

service engine soon light has come on. Took it to find out why, results read was the camshaft position sensor Circuit

It should be replaced as soon as you can. If it's the bank 1 sensor it could cause the truck to stall. If it's the bank 2 sensor it won't cause the truck to stall as often, but still can. The sensors are used by the computer to advance the timing when needed but also to know the truck is actually in time. These are important sensors. Most often the sensor is the cause of the problem.
