Is it possible that this (as well as a mass air flow sensor error) could have been caused when a non VW mechanic installed a new battery? The engine runs super hot and the fan starts immediately upon starting the engine. Should I take it back to the battery dudes or am I safer going to VW (it's a 2010 New Beetle). Thank you so much!

Hi there

If they didn't plug the mass air flow sensor back in tight, it could cause these codes to appear. The cooling system issue could be a separate problem so honestly, it should probably go to the dealer or someone else who works on VW.
