Sensors are good but am still getting p0342 camshaft code. Not sure how to test signal wire but ground and positive are good.

Vehicle: 2008 accent

HI there

You need a scope to check the output from the sensor. It's basically a wave pattern. I would check the timing. If the timing is off a couple of teeth then it is going to continue to throw a code for the cam sensor. This could be the cause of the problem. Here is some more info

Thanks for your reply much appreciated but after I pulled the mount and cover off I found about 1/4 of the timing teeth missing. Should have started there but it ran well right before I parked it and now after two weeks since purchased I have a valve or two stuck and maybe more but haven't got that far. The original owner said the timing was done not too long ago but I could peel teeth right off the belt and have never seen such rusty spark plugs on a newer car like this. Should have had it inspected but I had a little faith in the honor code and it bit me.
