When I drove my 2007 Toyota Camry yesterday, the RPM were jumping up to over 6000 and then dropping down. The engine would suddenly Rev up and then down. Also it had some trouble getting up the hills. Then after I stopped the car, when I put it in Reverse it Clunked. I brought it to a Transmission place, and they did not Test Drive it. They plugged in the tester and code PO700 came up. Also check engine light came on. He said I need a new Transmission. Could it be that maybe a part or two could just be fixed.....????

Vehicle: 2007,Toyota,Camry,4 cyl.

HI there

The P0700 code is only an informative code. This usually indicates there is a code in the transmission control module. A scan tool is required to get those codes. To say you need a new transmission based off the P0700 code would be a mistake. We need the other codes to give you a complete answer. This code doesn't let us know what is wrong with the transmission.
