I looked at the above for a different year Chevrolet and not a Monte Carlo, why are you saying the same thing for my Monte Carlo?

Vehicle: 2000 Monte Carlo ; don't know engine size; it is an SS

HI there

This is a generic OBD II code, the information is in the service manual for the monte ss. Here is a link to some of the causes, but the code is in the service manual so this will apply to your ss as well. In most cases the bank 1 front O2 sensor is the cause of the problem.
