Hi
I have Nissan Pathfinder 2003 v6 3.5 MT. It was giving a jerk on 3rd gear on accelerating and then it ran normal upto next start - run cycle then again gave 1 jerk and ran normal each time. It threw Cam shaft and Knock sensor codes , i changed both but still the same situation each time again. Each time i cleared the codes but came again after jerk on accelerating. I checked a lot then i came to a solution i unplugged the bank 2 VTC electrical connection then it ran smooth and there was no code even for VTC upto now. Not driving smooth by VTC removed and still ECM not throwing any code. Is ECM is faulty or any other problem kindly help. thanks

Vehicle: 2003 , pathfinder , nissan , v6 3.5

The jerking that going to set a knock sensor code, This condition that you feel is correct it is more the VTC solenoid, If the VCT solenoid is open circuit or short circuit there it set a VCT solenoid code, other than that it set a camshaft position sensor code, and the camshaft position sensor is not even at fault

Thanks for your answer. Can you explain as now VTC is in open circuit but there is no code at all also i checked both banks1+2 VTC circuit volts both were same and no short. Its running fine with some +5 - -10 Short Term FT and no misfire, but on Android scan tool  shows Cam bank 2 at 50deg and bank 1 at 5 deg, could be timing out as engine was overhauled 1 year back, but mechanic says he put timing chain correctly as if he put wrong there will be no start + misfires etc. is there ECM problem.thanks

-10 on the fuel trim this is mechanical,  The engine running rich, rich running condition are mechanical such as low compression, The ECM is working your out of alignment, scan tool is not going to help you in this case, a running compression test maybe, you need to do a compression test with a labscope, there you can see the opening and closing with the valves. Listen to the engine is there any front rattleing noise, The pathfinder is famous for the winding noise on the timing chain, I admit I have set timing chain off, the engine jerks as you accelerate, it idle great no problem if you coast it and accelerate it buckles. Just what you have . The job of the ECM is to look for open circuit short circuit and grounds and rationality. if you disconnect the VCT solenoid , and the fuel trim is within its normal range, it does not have to set a code for the open circuit not just yet, but eventualy it will. The purpose of the CK ENG LT is to protect the catalytic convertor, as long as there is no harm there it does not have to set a code. Unfortunately this is where scan data is not of much help, there are other test equiptment that has to be used,  you have a definite mechanical problem ,
