I got two codes: one is fuel tank gage (P0463) which is broken and the other was TCC (P1860). I called a mechanic and he said there may be more codes that his code reader will catch that the local auto parts store reader didn't. Is this likely?

My transmission shifts fine.

The howl started quite some time ago very infrequent but is becoming more frequent. It doesn't seem to be at any specific condition and varies in length and intensity. It seems to change direction but that is probably the listener's opinion.

My first guess prior to getting codes was hydraulic; brakes or transmission.

HI there

Different code readers will get the same codes unless there is a code stored in a different module. For example, most parts stores code readers only check the engine control module. If you had an ABS light on, then you would need a scan tool to access the abs module. The engine code reader wouldn't be able to communicate with that module.

The codes are for the fuel level sending unit and also for the torque converter solenoid. Likely a scan tool will be needed to actually diagnose the torque converter clutch solenoid.
