Cam and crank correlation is the distributor is not installed correctly. you need to check and make sure the harmonic balancer has not slip out of its mark, Plus when it comes to a 1985 you cant use the cylinder head or the valve because this engine is carburetor the opening of the valve is slow. 1998 valve on the cylinder head valve  is fast opening and closing.
