can low oil cause the check engine light to come on with code P2172

i have a 2016 jeep Cherokee with a 2.4L motor and the dealership is say that it being low in oil caused the check engine light to come on the code that was read is P2172 which best I can tell has nothing to do with oil.

Low oil will not cause this code. This code appears due to an intake air leak. Check the simple stuff like the air filter box and make sure the lid is tight. It is possible the map sensor is causing the code to appear as well.
