P0606 ECU Fault'm a New 2007 Colt BLUE owner who's having ECU problems, and not really been able to drive in nearly 6wks down to an electrical problem. The Car starts & runs but will then struggle/stall(The Red coolant temp light& Orange engine management flash on when this happens). I've had two mechanics put it on diagnostic and an Auto Electrician on it today . The Diagnostic Codes were.. P0606 Engine-ECU Main processor malfunction U1073 Bus off & P0513 Incorrect Immobiliser Key The Auto Electrician did all his checks & says the ECU needs changing & that the other codes are down to the faulty ECU (as it starts and runs/He said it isn't immobiliser) I'm on a limited budget & already spent money on 2 mechanics & the auto electrician. I'm hoping to fix with a second hand/eBay ECU kit , but not 100% sure on what I will need ... Obviously I will be buying all parts off 1 car so I'm hoping that this means I won't have to worry about coding issues??? I have seen some on eBay but they Vary in what they are offering in 'Kit'. Ecu, transponder, door locks x2, ignition barrel & 1 Key, then similar offers , BUT 1 comes with the Dash Clocks too ??? If I'm going down this route do I need the Clocks for everything to work correctly? ANY HELP or RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!. Thanks in Advance for any Help .

P0606 Engine control module (main processor malfunction)

If you clear the code and P0606 return you have a faulty ECM. The ECM is blindsided what happens is  it does not know what the engine temperature is so the cooling fan comes on. The whole purpose to have a ECM is to control emissions and protect the catalytic convertor. So if it thinks the catalytic is in danger it flashes the CK ENG LT . and it check the throttle actuator . With a P0606 and a U1073 this is a BUS error its over replace the ECM. Also when you install the ECM. check the charging system for any a/c ripples and ensure that the negative battery terminal are properly secured. many times a failed ECM can be traced to a faulty charging system a failed secured negative battery terminal. It may be cost effective to send the ECM to be rebult.
