I'm interested in purchasing this vehicle & I want to make sure that I'm not going to have to make a ton of repairs just to keep it road worthy. Its in good condition.
Vehicle: 2001, Volvo V70, 2.4L 5 cylinder, front wheel drive, non turbo

Most likely is a Faulty Park/Neutral Position Switch or Misadjusted Park/Neutral Position Switch. Less likely is a Park/Neutral Position Switch harness is open or shorted or Park/Neutral Position Switch circuit poor electrical connection.
