P1441 code on 2015 Jeep compass with 8000 miles.

Question

I have a 2015 Jeep compass with 2.4 liter engine and the check engine light came on with code P1441. Car runs fine with no funny smells or sounds. Would could be the cause. Again Jeep runs and performs fine. Thanks..

P1441 Evaporative emission control system leak

P1441 is the manufactuer specific  code, the generic code is P0441.there was a practice that when a manufactuer  specific code is set, was to also check for a generic code. If this is the only code that is set with just 8000 miles , it owner  operator fault. a loose fuel cap would set this code. fueling the car with the engine running and topping off the fuel can set this code.
