I have the following codes present
P0171
P0131
P0302
what would be the best order to solving these problems? Is the P0302 code related to either of the other 2 or is that a separate problem?
To me it looks like bad HO2S b1s1 could be responsible for both p0171 and p0131, but the p0302 may be a separate issue?
Thanks for your HELP!
Jim

Best answer
P0171 Fuel trim lean Bank 1
P0131 02 sensor circuit low voltage bank 1 sensor 1
P0302 Misfire number 2 cylinder
A lean fuel trim is capable of setting a misfire code, For a Pontiac it would have to be fuel related, but even then it would be a P0300. You can have a lean fuel trim and not set a misfire code, You can have a misfire code and not set a fuel trim lean code. , When a trouble code is set there are set condition for having the trouble code. For a P0131 if the signal voltage goes low for more than 50 seconds you set a P0131. From there the signal voltage defaults bias voltage, P0171 means the signal voltage is low for too long. You need to clear the code . This would cause the 02 sensor to cycle , If P0171 is set, there a lean code condition, If P0131 set that a faulty 02 sensor. . You should not have P0131 and P0171 together. The best approach for this code is do the misfire , this can be from the ignition coil to even the sparkplug wire, and having the number 2 cylinder misfire check the intake gasket, the gasket tends to rupture and allow coolant to seep into the intake , check the all the corner just to rule out coolant seepage as the cause
