P0500 Code - 97 Toyota Camry LE Vehicle Speed Sensor

I would appreciate direction in diagnosing a P0500. Below are my symptoms \ vehicle status:

1) Failed CA Smog due to vehicle speed sensor code abv.
2) Speedometer, tachometer, odometer, & trip meters all operational and accurate.
3) Auto transmission shifts properly during drive. A rare jerk when shifting.
4) Cruise control light come on but it does not engage at any speed.

P0500 Vehicle speed sensor malfunction

If the combination meter (speedometer) is correct, clear the code, , by clearing the code the monitor would have to run again. If P0500  is commonly seen in Toyotas but rarely does set the CK ENG LT. If the CK ENG LT was not set but set in the pending code just clear the code, reset the monitor need for the smog test. You may have set this code by steping on brake and gas pedal.
