Am I able to fix a problem with emissions control system?

Question

Toyota 2002 Corolla check engine light on. Was told by Minekee that it would cost $2000. And by another shop $700.Is it that difficult to fix? Can I do it myself?

The purpose of the CK ENG LT is to protect the catalytic convertor , the catalytic convertor is to protect the environment from harmful emission emitted into the atmosphere. Why the big difference on price, Parts needed for the repair and the labor, There also depending on what the code is, Is what is the root cause is. Here a example,  P0101 which is MAF (mass air flow) circuit / range performance, the could indicate a faulty MAF sensor .which  would be a circuit concern. or it MAF air duct has a torn or rip that is allowing false air to go unaccounted , this would be a performance concern.
