Would a faulty ign.coil cause the engine to crank but not catch?

My car sometimes will not start after driving for about 1/2 hour and then stopping. It cranks and then eventually will turn over, but sometimes will immediate stall out.

Usually if you have a bad ignition coil you will get a misfire code./it i possible that there is an issue with the coil or the cam or crank position sensor causing that problem.
