2002 chrysler sebring has po code 601 but wont stay running why?

It has no other codes onand to even get it to start you have to pump it and keep pumping it to keep it running

P0601 PCM internal controller

You have to pump just to keep the RPM going, this is a indication of fuel starvation

 The fuel pump strainer has possibly fell apart, what happens is the fuel is limited due to debris enterning the fuel pump causing the pump to have a low fuel volume and pressure
