I have a 2000 ford taurus with 40000 miles on it, the other day it conched out and I ran the battery down trying to restart it. I got a jump and after a couple of cranks it started back up. The check engine light was on, so I went over to auto zone and had one of the guys computer diagnose it and the read out was P1237. In most cases is this a pump/filter issue or could it be a low battery or a relay issue. It seems to be running fine now I disconnected the battery to reset the chk engine light and it seems to be staying out.

In most the cases its the relay, rather than the fuel pump or its filter, You would set a lean code condition for the fuel pump or the fuel filter. Use the cover on the engine  fuse relay as a map to the fuel pump relay. If it does not start wiggle the relay, If you notice when it comes to turning the engine on. and cycle the key the relay you can hear them clicking as they come on. When you do not hear them then know you have a starting problem with it. Use your ears as a diagnostic tool. For this year and this much miles, this vehicle was in storage.
