i checked the code and it reads P1701 how do i correct this problem?

P1701 Transmission control power supply

This code if you set it on a Ford , it is not valid, But it does set on certain scan tool, This has to deal with the shifter cable, The last time this code was encounter on a Ford , the shifter cable at the steering column was not allowing the shifter to be in gear correctly, The whole shifter at the steering column should be looked into.
