How do u know if its a sensor or transmission in a rogue

My 2014 rogue went n2 safe mode. Won't go forward or reverse after about 2 minutes driving. Some say its a sensor others say trans is out

HI there

If you have a code for the range sensor, then the sensor and wiring will have to be tested, to determine which is causing the issue. The TCM will also be checked.
