P0451 error code, 2011 Ford Escape 3.0

2011 Ford Escape 3.0 V-6,, (112,000 miles) Engine check light is on and the code reader says P0451. It has the self sealing gas filler (no gas cap). What are the possible issues and parts I should check?

Hi there,

A very common issue on this would be the vent control valve. If it sticking open then you will get this code so I would start there. If you are unable to determine if it's the problem, then a smoke test should be done to locate the leak.
