I did the smoke test it fail but the leak could not be detected we didn't see any smoke coming out the lines or hose any suggestions

Vehicle: 2001 Nissan Altima 2.4L

Hi there,

Check for a leak in the purge control valve going to the intake. This would hide the smoke for the smoke test. It would fail and you wouldn't see the smoke. Also, possibly the top of the fuel tank. Pull the back seat out and check it there as well

So you saying that it could possibly be leaking thru the tank seal or the hose?

Yes, the seal around the gas tank where the fuel pump sits could be leaking. It would be tough to see with a smoke test without pulling the seat and cover. On the purge valve, it's not the hose leaking,you would see that, but the smoke could go through the purge valve into the intake if the valve was stuck open, and you wouldn't see it, so unplug the hose on the purge that goes to the intake and retest it.
