My escape does not have a gas cap but instead the flapping door.

I attempt to clear the code by inserting the gas filler nozzle in and out several times to trip the second flap in the neck.  This has not worked.  The check engine light only comes on right after i get gas.  What is the fix?

This code is for a gross evap leak. It could mean there is an issue with the fill door or a problem with the vent control valve. There are several causes for this code. The best method for diagnosing a problem like this is a smoke test. This will locate the leak so the problem can be resolved. Without a smoke test it's just guessing at the list of possible causes.
