I had codes for miss on 1234 also random I re adjusted valves vehicle does run better but I have had to have the distributor over advanced just to run at all.   Now with distributor over advanced and valves adjusted vehicle runs but under a load will bog really bad.   Will not climb hills.  And is now throwing po170 and po172.  What am I missing here ???? Please help.    (Update) checked timing.  Timing was off.  Readjusted and triple checked.  Timing dead on now vehicle won't even start !!!!

Thanks.  I finally figured it out.   The last person to work on this vehicle did not put key ways back in the cam sprockets so I never was actually setting timing.   Installed key ways set timing all runs perfect.

When you check the timing belt, the crankshaft has a reluctor where the timing  belt seat at the main pulley, that gear tends to shift out of position, and it bury its key way, you may have to physically check that  pulley . if you get the car started , the best diagnostic tool is a vacuum gauge.you should have 18 to 20 vacuum if you are at 15, the timing off
