Does a mechanic need go inside transmission to fix P0420 catalyst system low efficiency?

Question

2011 Chevrolet Traverse LTZ, engine light just came on about 2 days ago. No problems, other than that yet. Will it hurt it to keep driving it till I get it fixed

The purpose of the CK ENG LT is to protect the catalytic convertor and the catalytic convertor protects the environment from harmful emission emitted into the atmosphere , If your CK ENG LT is due to a P0420 meaning that the catalytic on Bank 1 is efficiency low , the best diagnosis is to have its downstream 02 sensor checked for proper heating circuit, If your driving the vehicle and the catalytic is truly faulty, your just contributing to emitting harmful emission into the enviroment
