P 1686 code, jeep cherokee, reader didnt have jeep so used chrysler. Any ideas what this is?

2000 jeep grand cherokee, laredo package, 4.7 v-8. Some times engine light comes on, just bought a code scanner, but is not updated with this information. Having the hardest time to find its code definition.

SYMPTOM 
P1686 - NO SKIM BUS MESSAGE RECEIVED

WHEN MONITORED 
At ignition key ON and continuously during engine operation.

SET CONDITION 
This condition exists when a SKIM status bus message was not received from the SKIM module within the last 20 seconds .

POSSIBLE CAUSES 

 

• Invalid SKIM key
• Wiring harness intermittent problem
• PCM internal PCI BUS open
• PCM PCI BUS circuit open
