No , it will not cause the battery to go dead, But it can be the result of the battery or charging system, It is important to check the charging system condition, If the alternator is over charging it will set this code, if its under charging it will also set this code, Check the charging system , a good charging system will be 2 volts above battery voltage so you should have 13.5 to 14 volts any thing over is a over charging problem
