My steering is hard to steer but when i hit a bump sometimes it loosens

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 Z71. My steering is hard to steer but when I hit a bump sometimes it loosens and sometimes my 4 wheel drive shows on the dashboard that says needs services but nothing is wrong with it

Check the power steering control module for code and see if you have a C056D-39 code stored in the power steering control module, If this code is set even as a history code , you would need a software update.
