I have a 2003 Chevy Durmax showing engine code P0650. What does it mean?

P0650 Malfunction indicator lamp control circuit malfunction

The best way to resolve this is to determine if the fault is with the instrument panel or the ECM. The first step is disconnect the ECM , turn the vehicle on . If the MIL light is off ,if yes the problem is with the ECM. If no the problem with the instrument panel
