2009 Volkswagen Eos 2.0L, will a fuel pressure sensor work periodically? or is it more likely a fuel pressure sensor?

The cam lobes drive the high pressure pump,You basically need a inspection of the camshaft to verify the problem, Is it the fuel pressure sensor,fuel pressure sensor just measure fuel in the fuel rails,The ECM control pressure regulating valves,which controls pressure, There are 2 thing it need a visual inspection with a data stream to verify this.
