Bad Knock sensor PO325 Nissan Frontier 2001

Question

I have the PO325 code for Service Engine Soon. What is the purpose of the knock sensor? Can it affect gas milage? What if I don't fix it?

This code will not turn on the check engine light. The basic purpose of the knock sensor is to advance the timing if you have any unleaded fuel ping. This is a common code and will not damage anything if you continue to drive the truck with this code.

There is a tutorial to relocate the knock sensor in case you don't want to remove the intake manifold to replace it.
