2006 Sonata 2.4L shows code P0011 and has slight ticking sound when letting off throttle (engine goes to no load condition). No sound when accelerating or decelerating. Starts and runs fine otherwise. Replaced Oil control valve and changed oil but ticking is still there. Could it be the Cam position sensor?

P0011 Camshaft position timing - over advanced or system performance Bank 1

No this will not be the camshaft position sensor, What the camshaft actuator solenoid does is change the valve opening and closing of the intake valve timing this in return improves fuel economy, engine torque , and better emission and fuel economy, When you set a P0011 the ECM see that the camshaft timing by way of the camshaft sensor as being out of its desired range. and knows that the camshaft position sensor is not faulty, by measuring its signal in correlation to the crankshaft position sensor. That ticking noise, that can be the valves clearance , this engine uses tappets of different thickness, for a valve adjustment. You should also check and make sure the sparkplugs are not loose.
