2001 Mercury Cougar 2.5L with code p1506 is there a certain way to drive to program it?

every time press he clutch I the car revs to 2500 rpm then drops to about 900rpm after about 20 seconds, code p1506 shows up I replaced the iac and it got worse now it revs to 3500rpm and stays for anywhere from 20 secs to 1 min. is there a certian way to drive to program it?

HI there,

There isn't any reprogramming or adjustments to be made with the IAC on these. You may have an issue with a dirty throttle body causing the increase in the speed. I would clean the throttle with some carb cleaner and see if it helps
