Car had oil leak out front, suspected bad filter install as cause. Couple weeks later got code p0012, cleared it and found coolant pretty low @ time of ck. which was topped off. The next day got code p0016. Car seems to run fine now and @ time of codes, other than worrisome codes appearing. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated. Could a sensor have gotten contaminated by the oil leak? That is my HOPE?
Thx, TB

HI there,

The actuators use oil pressure to work. So, the oil leak can cause this type of issue if the oil pressure drops or there simply isn't enough oil to move the IVT solenoids. This can cause them to stick and also give you issues if any varnish gets into the solenoids. Since the car was running fine, I suggest an oil change and getting the oil to the proper level. This should resolve the issue for you. If not it's possible there is a problem with one of the cam sensors, but this would not be caused by low oil.
