Hello
Purchased a 2003 Nissan Maxima with 100,000 miles on it. After driving it home the check engine light came on. So I called the dealer and he was more than willing to fix the problem. But before I could get the car back to him, (he is a good hour and 1/2 from me) the light went out so he cancelled our appointment. Of course the light came back on and we rescheduled again untill the light went off again and he cancelled again.
The light goes on and stays on for about 2 weeks and then goes out, always the same code P0430. Dealer finally had the Catalytic Converter replaced but engine light came back on after driving the car about 50 miles and stays on for about 2 weeks goes off for about a week then always returns. Any ideas? Thank you

HI there,

First, make sure the dealer replaced the correct converter. This is the front bank on the engine and you should be able to see the new converter just by looking under the hood. If this has been replaced, then the next step would be to replace the rear O2 sensor on bank 2. If it's reading wrong it will throw a P0430 code.
