I just had my local Autozone give me an ODBII code P0172 for my a 1998 Jaguar XJ8.

Question

ALthough my car runs like a dream with no apparent issues, the check engine light and restricted performance message appears on my dash. I had the Mass air meter replaced about 3 months ago but again I have no performance issues with the car. What would be the most likely problem?The car use to jump around when I would get down on the accelarator to pass another vehicle however after replacing the Mass AIr Meter this issue has ceased. Again, the lights come on at will and the restricted performance goes out while the check engine light stays on.

This indicates a rich fuel mixture on bank 1. This is likely a leaking fuel injector because it is not throwing a code for both banks. The MAF sensor can also cause this code, but again, this is normally not the case when you only have one bank with a problem.
