These are not a code they are menu such as transmission control module, you have a scan tool that will either display 7e8 which is the menu for the engine control and 7e9 which is for the transmission control. some scan tool will say engine control menu and transmission control menu your say 7e8 or 7e9.

The code 7E9 is not an OBDII code. When the OBDII scanner plugs in your vehicle, the OBDII scanner gets the 7E9 ($7E9) code from the ECM. The code is a menu of systems that the OBDII scanner can access. OBDII scanner interprets the code and displays the menu. Some scanners can't solve these codes and show the codes instead of the interpretation. Clicking on the code menu will read the OBDII codes (e.g. P0420 or P0455), if any, from that system.

Menu Code 7E8 ($7E8): Engine System

Menu Code 7E9 ($7E9): Transmission System

Menu Code 7EA ($7EA): Engine Management
