2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 with code P1700. What could be wrong with it? It doesn't act like it builds up pressure in the transmission.

This condition you have is more of an internal mechanical problem with the transmission, and if you only have 1st gear this confirms the problem with the direct one-way clutch.
