engine light on - grand jeep cherokee 2005

Just purchased used from car dealership - engine light came on the next day - not during the test drive. Any suggestions

Hi Rebecca

Basically the light on means that one of the monitored systems has a problem. You need to get it back to the dealer to have the codes read and let them resolve the problem. Without a code there is no way to know specifically what needs to be done to resolve the problem, but the light on let's us know there is a problem.
