P0455 Chevrolet -equinox 2006

Question

We have just bought this vehicle two days ago and the check engine light was not on intill today and I checked the code and this code came up p0455 what can this problem lead to damage wise to my vehicle? And how do I fix it?

This  code is for the EVAP system what mostly set this code are gas cap that do not seat properly or missing.

 Fuel caps missing or improperly secure and even worn seal are the most reason for a  evap code to set
