Hello, I have an 07 Nissan 350z with 52k miles on it. 6MT, great condition, has not given me any problems other than changing MAF sensors.
Recently the SEL came on, so I conncected OBDII to see what the code was, at first a code of p0420 catalyst bank 1 efficiency low came up.
The code was cleared and I began to research what needed to be done and was getting ready to purchase parts. The SEL came on for a second time, again I plugged in OBDII to see what code it was and hoping that it was the same one. This time a code of p2a00 came up and now the car at times stutters and at one time the engine died at idle while waiting for a light. I was able to turn the car back on but with it stuttering every time I pressed the gas. Luckily I made it home and have not driven it since.
Please if you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

First the P0420 code is for the bank 1 converter. If the front A/F sensor is reading wrong on bank 1 it can cause the converter code and it can cause the code due to that bank running to rich. The converter is covered by an 8yr 80k mile warranty in the US. So this could be repaired by the dealer at no charge to you. The A/F sensor should be replaced, then if the 420 code comes back, or if the car continues to run poorly I would have the converter checked.
