rattle on start up

Question

Used a Bosch OBDII scanner...2011 Venza rattled during start up. No codes. Discovered oil dip stick revealed no oil. Why no codes?

Hi there,

There aren't any codes for lack of oil. Sometimes you will get a code for the variable timing solenoid when there is a lack of oil, otherwise, it's not something that will produce a code. There simply isn't one.
