2006 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5 intermittent p0402

Question

For 5 years I have had an intermittent p0402 code on my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5 L (on for a few weeks, off for a few weeks). I get the car inspected when it's not throwing the code. The sensors check out as okay. Could I have an intermittent problem with one of the wires between the sensors and the computer, or has my cat really been bad for 5 years?

The P0402 code is for the egr system on the car. It sounds like you may be talking about the catalytic converter. That code is a P0420. It is possible there is an issue between the wiring at the rear O2 sensor and the computer.
