Question

I have just replaced my fuel cap (Original VW) I see a thin rubber hose at the side of the cap. it is loose and has a screw screwed into it? (Engine light on)

Here a good fuel cap the seal in the middle is what hold fuel tank pressure and vacuum on the side is its leash which attacted to a fuel tank door to prevent the fuel cap from getting lost during refueling
