I have a 2002 Toyota Celica GT and it is sputtering again. I just had the massive airflow meter clear as well as a new catalytic convertor replaced2-3onths ago. I'm getting PO171 code and P1725 code so what's the best thing to do now? Replace sensor? If so how do is it pretty easy to do? I'm super broke and halfway between my road trip to CA I want my car to last as long as possible because I need it badly... plz help plz plz

Hi there,

For the P0171 code you need to check for low fuel pressure, ignition timing and possibly the mass air flow sensor. Cleaning doesn't always resolve the issue. You can try unplugging the mass air flow sensor and see if there is any improvement in the way the car runs. This is the sensor that is connected to the air filter box and is a fairly easy one to replace because the access is good.

The P1725 is for the revolution sensor on the transmission and is not related to the 171. In most cases the revolution sensor must be replaced.
