1999 Sunfire solenoid code

Hello, I have a 1999 Pontiac sunfire that will not shift into 3rd. Will this vehicle throw a obd code if the shift solenoid is bad? It is a 2.4 engine with a 4T40E transmission. Thank you for your time.

Yes it will, what you may have is a pending code for the shift solenoid. Pending codes are code that are not matured to set the CK ENG LT on.
